Our Entrance and Aquarium
Our beautiful aquarium with a variety of tropical fish, is the feature in our reception area and is always a perfect way to calm children as they come into the Centre. Important information about our Service is available for families in the reception area, including the educator’s personal philosophies and our cultural and seasonal weekly menu.
Three Outdoor Play Areas
At Buttercups we are Building Brighter Futures for children and we have also have built a spacious outdoor nature play area which is divided into three areas that meet the developmental needs of the children in each of the different age groups. These areas provide the children with room to explore, investigate and connect with nature. Established trees, including lemon and orange trees help create a peaceful background to the play equipment creating an inspiring and challenging early childhood environment for the children to enjoy and have fun as they use their skills and creativity. Fun and imaginative artwork as the backdrop to our stage will lend itself to the children’s imagination and creativity.
Our outdoor areas include veranda and shade sails to ensure the areas can be used all year round. These spaces include:
- Maze
- Three Sand Pits
- Yarning Circle
- Cubby House
- Fort with a Shop, Rock Climbing Wall, Slides and Tunnel
- Two Water Pumps into river creeks
- Mud Kitchen
- Bike Tracks
- Wooden Climbing and Balancing Areas
- Soccer Net
- Basketball Hoop
- Large Grassed Areas
- Music Walls
- Courtyard for Science and Discovery or Art & Craft
- Quiet Areas
Buttercups has four beautiful classrooms environments all with botanical names.
The Baby Room is known as the Poppy Room.
The Poppy room is located to the back of the building with a lovely view of Botany Park. Our babies will be nurtured and cared for with a ratio of 1 educator to every 4 babies. Our spacious room will allow the babies to grow and explore in the different learning areas in the room. We work in partnership with families to ensure there is consistency of care and support with children’s routines. The Poppy room also features a separate cot room where 10 minute checks are completed for the children’s safety and wellbeing. Outside the children have a wonderful play area featuring a mural of the beach to complement the sandpit and Buttercup flowers along the wall.
The Toddler Room is known as the Tulip Room.
Our Toddler room is a large spacious area which allows the children to discover and develop by engaging with a range of different activities. The room is designed to give the children the opportunity to explore their gross motor skills, imaginative play and enjoy moments of solitude. With a ratio of 1 Educator to every 4 children there will be plenty of opportunity for educators to engage and encourage the children as they develop confidence and a feeling of belonging in their new environments. Outside the children have their own outdoor play area which features a maze, water pump, bike track, sand pit and cubby house.
The Pre-Kindy Room is known as the Daisy Room.
The Daisy room caters for children with 1 Educator to every 5 children. The Daisy room delivers an educational program which allows for the children to develop skills that will help them as they progress their developmental learning in readiness for the Kindy room. The inside environment is designed to allow children to investigate in large and small groups and individually. Imaginative and construction play is promoted in our learning areas where the children can use a range of different resources. The colourful art work on the walls adds to the environment and has inspired the introduction of the Buttercups Bear (which is yet to be named in a competition for the children to decide on a name.) The outside area is shared with our Kindy room where there are many activities in to investigate, including climbing, bike riding and relaxing under the shade.
The Kindy Room is known as the Daffodil Room.
Our Kindy room has many creative, challenging and interactive activities to inspire children with their fine motor and cognitive skills as they further develop their social & emotional skills. The ratio is 1 educator to 10 children. The educational learning curriculum is delivered through play-based experiences run by an Early Childhood Teacher. A basic school readiness program is promoted where children are being taught throughout the year to develop self-help skills and self-regulation. The indoor space provides the children with the opportunity to enhance their own learning by connecting with their peers, educators and resources. The outdoor space, shared with the pre-kindy room, has an amazing stage where the children can display their talents and be a “Star of the Stage” as they develop confidence in their own abilities. Our playground will inspire and enthuse this age group and also the families.
