R U OK Day, 10th September 2020

On Thursday the 10th of September, Buttercups Childcare & Early Learning Centre joined the R U OK? campaign.

Buttercups Educators added a splash of yellow to their rooms to raise awareness. Our children learnt about the importance of recognising and discussing feelings, and that it’s always ok to feel the way we feel. Our little babies explored feelings and emotions through sensory play by patting, shaking and stepping over the sensory bags. Our children from Kindy Room asked the question ‘R U OK?’ to everyone around them. And got some very lovely thumbs up, smiles and cuddles as a response. Our Early Childhood Educators also showed support by bringing in treats to brighten the day of their colleagues.

R U OK? is a national day of action when we remind Australians that every day is the day to ask, “Are you OK?” if someone is struggling with life’s ups and downs. No matter who you are or how old you are, mental health is so important. Talking about mental health can and should start at a young age. R U OK? is an important question but there’s more to say after R U OK? Ask, then listen, encourage action and check in because a conversation could change a life. Buttercups would like to ask all its families and followers “ R U OK?”.

Please visit R U OK? website https://www.ruok.org.au if you’d like to know more.
