It’s Dental Health Week at Buttercups Childcare!

From the 3rd to 7th August Buttercups children participated in a range of activities to celebrate Dental Health Week. As their early childhood educators, we aimed to educate children through discussions and experiences about the importance of maintaining good oral health by promoting 4 key messages:

  • Brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste.
  • Clean between teeth daily using floss or interdental brushes.
  • Eat a healthy, balanced diet and limit sugar intake.
  • Visit the dentist regularly for check-ups and preventive care.

Our Kindy children were showed the amount of sugar in popular drinks and the impact of that sugar on teeth.  They were educated about the concept of hidden sugars and reading food labels in order to make healthy choices.

Did you know thousands of children during their early years in Australia have serious tooth decay? Baby teeth are more susceptible to decay and that’s why we need to teach our children how to care for them properly.

Interested parents and carer are encouraged to go through the following articles, for more information, in this regard.
